Odisha Govt To Introduce Uniform Syllabus For UG Courses From Ensuing Academic Session
Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to introduce a uniform syllabus for undergraduate courses across universities from the ensuing academic session.
This was announced by higher education minister Arun Kumar Sahoo after an interactive session with vice-chancellors of state universities at Pustak Bhawan in the state capital. Commissioner-cum-secretary of Higher Education Department Saswat Mishra and other senior officials were also present in the interactive session.
Sahoo said that the move will bring uniformity in the teaching imparted across undergraduate classes and raise the quality of education. “As of now, different syllabus is followed by different universities. But we have decided to introduce a uniform syllabus and hold examinations within a time-frame,” said Sahoo.
Last year the state government had mooted the plan to have a common syllabus under a choice-based credit system. Sahoo also said that the vice-chancellors have been told to fill up vacant teaching positions as soon as possible. “The state government will also extend financial aid and free coaching to 100 applicants of Civil Services Examination,” added the minister.
