Wild elephant enters village, Destroys house & eats paddy
Balasore: A wild elephant from Kulihada sanctuary entered Jholapura village under Oupada block in Balasore district late Saturday night. It has caused a wide-spread panic in the village.
The elephant, reportedly, damaged a home and the belongings of the residents. It also ate paddy. An aged couple, identified as Prabhakar Patra and Jemamani Patra, had a miraculous escape from the tusker. Upon witnessing the tusker’s antics, they closed their doors and cried for help. Somehow the elephant left them uninjured.
The locals have been demanding a permanent solution to these frequent pachyderm visits.
