‘Good Samaritans’ to be rewarded by Commissionerate police

Good Samaritans will be offered cash reward by Commissionerate police Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police has decided to offer cash rewards to ‘Good Samaritans’ with an aim to encourage volunteerism among people tor help road accident victims.

According to Police Commissioner YB Khurania, all police stations under the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police jurisdiction will be provided with funds to reward the helping hands rushing accident victims to hospital and also financial aid to citizens in distress.

The city police, through the Red Cross Society, will give Rs 1000 and a letter of appreciation to those who rush the injured from the spot to a nearby hospital.

Khurania also informed that the ‘Good Samaritans’ who will help in shifting road accident victims will not be harassed saying their statements would be recorded at their residence instead of police stations.

The Commissionerate Police decided to encourage the people in the wake of an incident in which a person was shifted to hospital after a delay of nearly 45 minutes by the RPF after he was injured in a train mishap at Bhubaneswar railway station on June 19.
