New Micro SUV from Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch soon; To compete with the likes of Punch and Exter
Maruti Suzuki is planning to introduce a new micro SUV in the Indian market that will be rivaling against the likes of Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. The sub-4m SUV is expected to be launched in 2026-2027 and is internally codenamed Y43. Maruti plans to take the success of its SUVs to the next level with the introduction of new SUVs.
In the last couple of years, Maruti Suzuki has captured large chunks of the SUV market in India and the company has launched several SUVs like the Fronx, New Brezza, Grand Vitara, and Jimny. Apart from that, multiple cars are in the pipeline of the manufacturer. We expect more new SUVs from the manufacturer. The new micro-SUV is expected to increase the trajectory of the growth of the company. As of now, Maruti Suzuki has more than 20 percent market share in the utility vehicle segment.
According to the latest reports, the micro-SUV from Maruti Suzuki will be launching in the year 2026-2027. Even though Maruti offers S-presso and Ignis in the micro-SUV segment, the vehicles are not proper SUVs. An introduction to a proper micro-SUV will be helpful for Maruti Suzuki.
Even though information about the SUV is very little, it will be definitely below 4 metres and offer a high ground clearance with a commanding driving position. The design of the SUV is something we expect to be similar to that of Grand Vitara and Fronx. When it comes to cabin features, we will get features like a large touchscreen infotainment system, flat-bottom steering wheel, six airbags, head-up display, automatic HVAC, push-button start/stop, and much more.
The Y43 micro-SUV will be powered by a 1.2-litre Z-Series mild-hybrid petrol engine that will make its debut in the new generation of Swift. Maruti is also preparing to launch its first electric car, the eVX, and a 7-seater SUV that will be based on Grand Vitara.
