Berhampur: Three members of a gang today allegedly looted gold chain from a woman by impersonating themselves as police in the town. The victim B. Sarada has lodged a formal complaint with the Town police station.
Sarada alleged that three miscreants on a motorcycle identified themselves as police and asked her to remain alert claiming that snatchers are on the prowl in the city. ‘I was returning from the temple and they asked me to wrap the gold chain in a paper. They also asked me to hand over the paper. A few minutes later they returned me the paper packet and left the place,’ she alleged.
The woman, however, found stones inside the paper packet after reaching her house. Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra made a spot visit and held a discussion with the victim. The SP has also directed the police to nab the culprits at the earliest possible.
