Nayagarh: Tension prevailed near Nayagarh Collector’s office today after a woman Home Guard tried to set her ablaze protesting lack of posting by her department.
The victim has been identified as Lipi Rani Das.
As per the report, Das arrived at the Collectorate in the afternoon and doused her with Kerosene with the intent to commit suicide.
However, the policemen present at the office immediately swung into action and prevented Das from setting her on fire.
Soon after her rescue the woman Home Guard in his statement to media informed that he had been posted at the Nayagarh Sadar Police Station for last 6 months. However the senior officials have prevented her from doing duty for last 3 days, she alleged.
The victim also alleged mental torture in the hands of senior officials for past few months.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
