VLW-cum-Executive Officer convicted in vigilance case, gets rigorous imprisonment
A court today convicted a Village Level Worker (VLW)-cum-Executive Officer in vigilance case and awarded him rigorous imprisonment.
Khurda: A court today convicted a Village Level Worker (VLW)-cum-Executive Officer in vigilance case and awarded him rigorous imprisonment. The convict has been identified as Ashok Kumar Patasahani, VLW-cum-Executive Officer, Hirapur GP, I/c Botalama GP under Begunia Block of Khurda district. Currently, he is working as VLW at Bolagarh of the district.
Apart from convicting the VLW-cum-Executive Officer, the court also sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and fine of Rs 10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months more.
Patasahani was apprehended by the Vigilance officials while he was demanding and accepting bribe from a beneficiary for preparation of bill against an IAY house constructed by him and disbursement of the second installment in his favour.
Later, he was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case vide Additional Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar TR No.18/2012 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 P.C. Act,1988.
Sources said that the anti-corruption wing would now move the competent authority for dismissal of Ashok Kumar Patasahani from service following his conviction.
