IPL 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders defeat Mumbai Indians after 12 years

In yesterday’s match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) played at Wankhede Stadium, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) for the first time in 12 years.

Briefing about the match, Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first against Kolkata Knight Riders. Batting first, KKR scored 169 runs losing all wickets. Of which Venkatesh Iyer scored 70 runs, Manish Pandey made 42 runs, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi made 13 runs. From MI’s side Jasprit Bumrah and Nuwan Thushara took three wickets each, while Hardik Pandya took two wickets.

Chasing the 170 runs victory target, Mumbai Indians lost all wickets at 145 runs, leading KKR to win the match by 24 runs. Of the total from MI’s side, Suryakumar Yadav made 56 runs, Tim David made 24 runs and Ishan Kisan made 13 runs. Meanwhile, while fielding, Mitchell Starc took four wickets, Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine took two wickets each.

Speaking about the points table, Kolkata Knight Riders presently stand at second position with seven wins and three loses, while, Mumbai Indians stand at ninth position with three wins and eight loses.

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore is set to lock horns with Gujarat Titans at M. Chinnaswammy Stadium in Karnataka at 7.30 pm today.
