Relief downpour in Ganjam as Kalbaisakhi lashes, while rest of Odisha sizzles

Ganjam: Amid extreme heatwave condition in Odisha, Ganjam district has got some relief as rain lashed several parts in effect of Kalbaisakhi.

According to reports, places including Digapahandi, Sanakhemundi, Chikiti and others experiences rain, gusty wind and thunderstorm. Likewise, Mohana of Gajapati district also experienced rain and thunderstorm in effect of Kalbaisakhi.

Meanwhile, Odisha is grappling with severe heatwave condition. Today, the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alert for nine districts as heatwave intensifies in Odisha.

As per date given by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, red warning has been issued for districts including Khurda, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Angul and Cuttack.

Likewise, orange alert for heatwave condition has been issued for districts including Sambalpur, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Deogarh, Nuapada, Sundergarh, Rayagada and Jharsuguda.

Furthermore, the weather department also predicted that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur over the districts of Malkanagiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Kalahandi, Balangir and Puri.
