Jajpur: An elderly man was allegedly hacked to death at Mirpatna village under Sadar police limits on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Adikanda Biswal. As per reports, Biswal was on his way to his home on a bicycle when miscreants intercepted him.
The miscreants later attacked Biswal with sharp edged weapons and escaped from the spot. Biswal was immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital where he was declared received dead.
Family members of the deceased, however, alleged involvement of their neighbours in the crime. They also alleged that land dispute was the motive behind the murder. Police have started an investigation in this connection.
