Odisha Urban Polls 2022: 6381 Candidatures Found Valid For Councilors And Corporators
Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) informed that the candidature of as many as 6381 councilors and corporators remained valid after scrutiny.
As many as 671 nominations for the post of mayors and chairpersons remained valid after scrutiny.
As many as 78 nominations for councilors and corporators were rejected while the nomination of 22 mayors and chairpersons were rejected.
It is noteworthy that, the Housing & Urban Development department of Odisha issued notifications regarding the election of Mayors and Corporators for three Municipal Corporations, chairpersons and Councilors for 107 Municipalities/NACs.
As per one notification, the term of five years from the date of appointed for the first meeting of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Cuttack Municipal Corporation, and Berhampur Municipal Corporation has been completed.
The other notification further stated that the term of five years from the date of appointed for the first meeting has been completed in respect of 103 Municipalities/ NACs.
