BYD Seal EV set to debut in India on March 5

Chinese automobile brand BYD is all set to launch the ‘BYD Seal EV’ in India on March 5, 2024. The Electric vehicle was recently spotted testing in the country in Chennai. This model will be the third offering in the country by the Chinese automobile brand BYD. The other two models by BYD are the e6 and the Atto 3.

The company showcased the Seal EV sedan at the Auto Expo 2023. The India-spec BYD Seal is likely to be offered exclusively in the top-spec form. Dimension-wise, it measures 4,800mm long and 1,875mm wide with a height of 1,460mm.

Based on the Ocean X concept, the Seal EV is powered by an 82.5kWh battery pack paired with two electric motors. The India-specific Seal EV will be offered in dual-motor as well as all-wheel drive powertrains. The power unit will provide an output of 530bhp and 670Nm of torque. The model can sprint from 0-100kmph in 3.8 seconds. In terms of charging, the smaller battery unit offers 110kW charging while the larger battery unit offers 150kW fast charging. It is claimed to return a range of up to 700km on a single full charge.

The Seal EV by BYD features a 15.6-inch infotainment display like the Atto 3 SUV as well as e6 MPV and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster.

The features of the new Seal EV include a floating centre console, sweptback headlamps, wraparound LED taillights, DRLs on the lower end of the bumper, A-pillar-mounted ORVMs, flush-fitting door handles, and dual-tone aero wheels. It also gets Piano-Black inserts on the inside, a rotating touchscreen infotainment system, a flat-bottom steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting along with a 360-degree camera, and an ADAS suite for safety.

Meanwhile, the unofficial bookings of the EV have commenced at some dealerships. The official booking will likely start soon.
