Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 launched with periscope camera, and more: Check price, features

Xiaomi has launched the new third-gen Mix Fold 3 foldable smartphone in China on Monday. The device is a fourth horizontal foldable phone that unfolds into a tablet. The company has claimed that it is the world’s thinnest foldable handset when folded. It features a Leica-tuned camera system and has a new hinge and a revamped design.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 Specifications 

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 comes with a boxy design. It has a thin frame with a size of 5.26mm when unfolded and 10.96m when folded. It features a new waterdrop hinge that is more durable than its predecessor and can withstand over 500,000 folds. The company has claimed that the hinge also allows the display to stay still (Hover mode) between 45°-135° angles.

The phone has an 8.03-inch primary foldable screen with a 2K resolution and UTG protection. Whereas the outer screen measures 6.56 inches in size and has 21:9 FHD+ resolution along with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Both panels use E6 material and support up to a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, a maximum peak brightness of 2600 nits. Even their global brightness level is rated at 1300 nits. These two screens are accompanied by dual stereo speakers.

On the software front, the phone boots MIUI 14 Fold based on Android 13. Xiaomi claims that the top 200 apps in China are fully optimized for this handset.

The smartphone is powered by the overclocked version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. It packs a 4,800mAh battery with support for 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Xiaomi offers a Leica-tuned quad-camera system on the foldable phone. The camera unit houses a 50MP Sony IMX800 primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide unit, a 10MP 3.2x telephoto shooter, and a 10MP 5x periscope snapper. For selfies, it gets two 20MP front-facing cameras for the external and internal displays.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 Price

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 price in China is set at CNY 8,999 (around Rs 1,03,000) for the base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and the 16GB RAM with 512GB storage variant has a price tag of CNY 9,999 (around Rs 1,14,500). Meanwhile, the top-end 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage configuration costs CNY 10,999 (around Rs 1,26,600).

It is available in two variants glass and dragon scale fiber. It is introduced in Moon Shadow Black and Xingyao Gold. The foldable smartphone is up for pre-order in China. It will go on sale from August 16.
