OnePlus Ace Racing Edition confirmed to launch on May 17

Popular Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has officially announced that it is going to introduce a new smartphone in its home market called ‘OnePlus Ace Racing Edition’. The new phone is scheduled to launch in China on May 17, 2022. OnePlus China has made a special page for the Ace Racing Edition on its official page. The phone’s design has been revealed via the poster shared on the page. The poster shows the back of the phone with a rectangular camera module consisting of three cameras. OnePlus has also confirmed that the phone will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max chipset.

OnePlus Ace Racing Edition launch date 

The phone has been showcased in Grey and Blue colour options and will be launched in China on May 17. It is not known whether the phone will be coming to other markets. Even if the phone comes to other markets outside of China, it may carry a different moniker.

As for the design, the new OnePlus phone will retain a 3.5mm headphone jack, but will ditch the brand’s vintage alert slider. The device will likely have a left-aligned punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera on the display. The power button is expected to double as a fingerprint scanner. It will be located on the right side of the device and the buttons for volume adjustment will be on the right side.

OnePlus Ace Racing Edition specifications (expected)

The OnePlus Ace Racing Edition is expected to come equipped with a 6.59-inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel with a high refresh rate. Under the hood, the phone is confirmed to have an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max chipset, that will be paired with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB onboard memory.

The smartphone will likely sport a triple rear camera setup, including a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera, and a 2MP tertiary camera (macro/depth camera). At the front, the device is said to feature a 16MP selfie shooter. Coming to the battery of the device, the device may pack a 4,890mAh rated battery with 65W fast charging support.
