Jakarta: Ace Indian sprinter Dutee Chand scripted history at the 18th Asian Games here on Wednesday. She won the silver medal in the Women’s 200-metres Final.
She won the medal with a timing of 23.20 second while Edidiong Odiong of Bahrain pocketed the gold medal with 22.96 second. Chinese sprinter Wei Yongli got the bronze medal.
Dutee had entered the Final after she finished first clocking 23 seconds, her personal best, in the semis yesterday.
This is Dutee’s second medal in the mega tournament. Earlier she had won the silver medal by clocking 11.32 seconds in the event on Sunday. With this achievement, Dutee became the first Indian woman in 20 years to win a 100m Asian Games medal.
Meanwhile, congratulation massage poured in for her from all quarters.

Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore also congratulated her saying what a race by our sprinter Dutee Chand!
