Palembang: Despite all odds, India’s Dutee Chand has won silver medal at the ongoing Asian Games 2018. This is the first medal in 100m race by an Indian female athlete since PT Usha won in 1986.
She won the medal with a timing of 11.32 second and narrowly missed the gold medal.
With 11.30 second Edidiong Odiong of Bahrain bagged the yellow medal while Chinese sprinter Wei Yongli pocketed the bronze medal.
Earlier in the day she had entered the finals after qualifying the semi-finals with a timing of 11.43 seconds.
Meanwhile, congratulation massage poured in for her from all quarters.
Taking to his twitter handle Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik congratulated her.

Likewise, Union Sport Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore took to his twitter handle and said in a magnificent run, India’s Dutee Chand won SILVER medal.

Notably, the 22-year-old sprinter was suspended by the IAAF in 2014 under its hyperandrogenism policy while she was taking part in her first Asian Games in Odisha. However, she filed an appealed before the Court of Arbitration for Sports and won it.
Recently, under a revised rule of the IAAF, Dutee was left outside the purview of the hyperandrogenism policy which gave her liberty to pursue her career.
Dutee Chand, a native of Jajpur district, is the student of Bhubaneswar-based KIIT University.
