Two booked for clicking photos inside Srimandir, posting on Facebook

Puri: Finally initiating action against the accused in Sri Jagannath Temple viral video incident, the Singhadwara Police lodged cases against two persons today.

The duo who was booked by police is Akash Madake of Pune and Jugal Kishore Vaishnav of Raipur in Chhattisgarh. They had taken the photographs with the help of their mobile camera during a visit to the temple with family members, few months ago.

Police said the FIRs were lodged on the basis of a complaint filed to them by the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) recently. Akash and Jugal have been charged under Sri Jagannath Temple Act and Information Technology (IT) Act of 2000.

A lot of hue and cry erupted among the Sri Jagannath Culture lovers across the world after photographs and selfies clicked by the accused inside Srimandir went viral on social media few months ago. Photographs showing several key places of the temple including Koili Baikuntha, Garuda Stambha, Inner precinct, and Bhoga Mandap did rounds on Facebook for days while taking photographs and videos inside the temple is strictly prohibited.
