Cuttack: Students of SCB Medical College and Hospital staged a cease-work agitation protesting an alleged attack by kin of a patient who died in the hospital late on Tuesday night.
Demanding action against the attendants of the deceased patient and safety of the doctors, the house surgeons and undergraduate students staged the demonstration in front of the Casualty and Trauma department of the government-run hospital.
The protesters claimed that this is not the first instance and similar types of cases have happened in the past.
The cease-work agitation of the inmates of the medical college and hospital has affected health services in the hospital.
According to reports, a patient from Mahanga area of the district was undergoing treatment in the hospital. However, he breathed his last yesterday in the medicine ward of the hospital following which the relatives of the patient allegedly attacked the on duty doctor Aman Kumar alleging medical negligence.
Meanwhile, local police have detained three persons on charges of manhandling the doctor.
