Odisha: Protection given to forest officials under CrPC

Bhubaneswar: The Government of Odisha has taken into account the recent death cases of forest officials and has decided to provide protection to forest officials.

The government shall provide protection to forest officials wherein no court shall take cognizance of any offense alleged to have been committed by them while acting in the discharge of their official duty except with the previous sanction of the law.

Further the government has decided that, in case whenever firing is resorted to by them, each such incident will be enquired into by the Executive Magistrate.

Furthermore, the decision said that only if it is held in the inquiry that the use of fire arm has been unwarranted, excessive and unnecessary, then only the criminal proceedings against the said forest officials will be initiated on acceptance of such enquiry report by the State Government.

Thus, the government has decided to provide protection to forest officials while they discharge their duties.
