Low pressure rain: Yellow warning issued to 11 districts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Center here has issued yellow warning for rain to as many as 11 districts of Odisha on Saturday. As per MeT, a fresh low pressure will likely form over Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal on July 24.

Heavy rain will lash different parts of the state under the influence of the possible low pressure from July 26, predicted the MeT. The low pressure will also bring heavy rain to Chhattisgarh.

Heavy rain has lashed different parts of Odisha under the influence of the low pressure, which is active on the North Andhra coast near South Odisha.

Rain will continue to lash the state for the next 4 days. Meteorological Center has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain to 11 districts including Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Anugol, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Devgarh and Boudh for today. As per the weather report, these places are expected to receive 7 to 20 cm of rain.

Some parts of the Southern Odisha districts are predicted to receive rainfall tomorrow and the next after tomorrow. Heavy to very heavy rainfall will likely be witnessed under the influence of low pressure on July 24th.

The heavy rain is expected to make many rivers of Mahanadi and South Odisha to swell. The Special Relief Commissioner has alerted all the District Magistrates to stay prepared for the possibility of heavy rain. The water level in Hirakud Reservoir is increasing. The Hirakud Dam will release the first flood water of this year tomorrow.
