General Election 2024: Election Commission issues directives to poll-bound states including Odisha

The Election Commission has issued directives to poll-bound states including Odisha for the General Election 2024.

Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission has issued directives to poll-bound states including Odisha for the General Election 2024. It is further worth mentioning that, the notice issued by the EC signals at the conduct of assembly polls soon, said reports.

The Election Commission has put Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim in the list of General Elections 2024.

It has further directed to conduct elections in the states namely Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim are upto 16th June, 2024, 11th June, 2024, 2nd June, 2024, 24th June, 2024 and 2nd June, 2024 respectively.

Further, the Election Commission has issued a slew of directives to the poll-bound States including Odisha on the officials to be engaged in poll duty.

The CS and the DGP have been directed by EC to furnish compliance reports on directives to EC by Jan 31, 2024.

The press release further read that, “The Commission has been following a consistent policy that officers directly connected with conduct of elections in an election going State/UT are not posted in their home districts or places where they have served for considerably long period.”

The notice further read that, “the Commission has decided that no officer connected directly with elections shall be allowed to continue in the present district (revenue district) of posting:
(i) if she/he is posted in her/his home district.”
