Bhawanipatna: At least one person was killed and four others sustained critical injuries after a SUV carrying them dashed against the roadside tree at Khaliakani under Golamunda police limits last night.
The deceased have been identified as the driver of the SUV Bhagya Patel of Golamunda village.
The crash took place late in the night while at least five persons were returning from Dharamgarh area by boarding a Mahindra Bolero after completing some work and driver lost control over the wheels near Golamunda.
As the vehicle skidded off the path and hit a roadside tree Bhagya sustained grievous injury in the crash and died on the spot.
Fire brigade officials rushed to the spot following an intimation by locals and sent the injured persons to Dharamgarh hospital. Victims’ condition is stated to be critical.
Police have seized the mangled bike and sent the body for autopsy.
