New-Delhi: The Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien has been suspended from the Rajya Sabha for the rest of the winter session for “ignoble misconduct “.

Derek had a face-off with the Rajya Sabha chairman amid the uproar in the Lok Sabha over the security breach in Parliament.

Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said, Derek O’ Brien had entered the well of the House, shouted slogans and disrupted the proceedings of the House as the opposition raised the issue of yesterday’s security breach incident. He asked TMC MP to leave the House immediately. Dhankhar called Derek O’Brien’s conduct a “defiance” of the Chair and “serious misconduct”.

Later,  the Upper House adopted a motion to suspend O’Brien for the remainder of the session.

Earlier today, the Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned after opposition MP’s jumped into the house demanding a discussion on the security breach of the Parliament.
