Anantnag terror attack: 5 CRPF personnel martyred, 2 terrorist killed

Srinagar: As many as five CRPF jawans were martyred and three others were injured on Wednesday when terrorists carried out an attack at KP road in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A police inspector of Jammu and Kashmir Police and a civilian also sustained critical injuries in the gun battle, officials said.

According to reports, at least two terrorists attacked a patrol party of the CRPF on the busy KP Road in Anantnag with automatic rifles followed by hurling of grenades. Both the terrorists were gunned down by security personnel.

Meanwhile, Pro-Pakistan terrorist group Al Umar Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the attack on CRPF and police personnel.

The attack poses major security concern days before the Amarnath Yatra, which is scheduled to begin on July 1.
