Malkangiri: As many as six Militias were arrested by Chhattisgarh police from the bordering area of Cherala today. Police also seized a huge cache of explosive materials from their possession.
According to sources, Chhattisgarh police along with the CRPF and B-141 battalion conducted a joint motor-vehicle check in Cherala area. They intercepted the vehicle in which the Militias were travelling with some suspicious articles.
The security personnel, then, recovered a huge cache of explosive materials like 30 gelatin sticks used as high explosives, three bombs, silk wire bundles, five electronic detonators and 180 iron rods from the vehicle.
During interrogation, the rebels admitted that they are working as active members of a Maoist organisation in the state,
The arrested rebels who have been identified as Budra Madhabi, Kunjam Adama, Jagga Madhabi, Bhima Madhabi, Suka Madhab and Bhudra Madhabi.
Police said that all of them will be forwarded to the court after a medical test later in the day.
