‘Jailer’ actor G Marimuthu dies while dubbing for a TV show

G Marimuthu was not only a well-known figure in the Tamil film industry but was also famous as a YouTube sensation.

Popular Tamil director and actor G Marimuthu passed away today. He passed away at around 8:30 AM in the morning while dubbing for a television show titled ‘Ethir Neechal’. Marimuthu, aged 58, collapsed during the dubbing session.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.

Marimuthu was not only a well-known figure in the Tamil film industry but was also famous as a YouTube sensation. His latest on screen appearance on the big screen was in Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ and ‘Red Sandal Wood’.

His untimely demise has sent a wave of despair throughout the entertainment industry.

The late actor and director is survived by his wife Backiyalakshmi, and two children, Akilan and Ishwarya.

Known for his bold opinions, Marimuthu was often found at the centre of social media debates. In ‘Jailer,’ he was seen playing a notable role of the villain’s sidekicks. During the time of his demise, he was with his colleague Kamlesh.

Currently, his body has been kept at a private hospital in Chennai. It will be moved to his residence in Virugambakkam for the public to pay their final respects. Later in the day, his body will be taken to his hometown Theni where his final rites will be conducted.

G Marimuthu’s journey in the film industry began with the dream of becoming a director in Kollywood, His directorial debut was with ‘Kannum Kannum’ in the year 2008. Post which, he played several roles in the Tamil film industry. His notable performances include roles in ‘Vaali’, ‘Jeeva’, ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, and ‘Jailer’.
