Sensex gains 500 points, Nifty above 19,300 led by metal, financials

Indian equity indices, NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex, opened higher on Monday and created fresh life-time highs.

Mumbai: Indian equity indices opened higher on Monday and created fresh life-time highs. NSE Nifty 50 opened at 19,246.50, and advanced by 0.4%, approaching the 19,300 level. Meanwhile, the Sensex surpassed the 65,000 mark during early trade, reaching a high of 65,041.33 due to foreign fund inflows.

The broader markets traded in green following the benchmarks. Additionally, Bank Nifty also hit a fresh high, crossing the 45,000 mark.

The major top gainers in the Sensex were HDFC, HDFC Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, UltraTech Cement, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finance, State Bank of India, Reliance Industries, Bajaj Finserv and ICICI Bank.

Power Grid, Maruti, Tech Mahindra, IndusInd Bank, HCL Technologies and Axis Bank were among the top losers.

Nifty Smallcap 100 climbed to 1.11% while Nifty Midcap 100 added 0.40%. Nifty 100, Nifty 200 and Nifty 500 gained around 0.5% each.
