Xiaomi has unveiled its first ever electric passenger car-called the Xiaomi SU7 at the company's first EV launch event.

Xiaomi has unveiled its first ever electric passenger car-called the Xiaomi SU7 at the company’s first EV launch event at 2:00pm Beijing time (11:30am IST). The event lasted for three hours. It has been introduced in three colour options- aqua blue, verdant green, and mineral grey.

The car features a sedan-style design with very stylish five-spoke alloy wheels paired with Michelin tyres with a Mi logo on the wheel caps. It looks like a luxury sports car somewhat like the Porsche Taycan.

Xioami SU7 Electric Vehicle is powered by its HyperOS operating system which will let the EV offer a seamless, smartphone-like interactive experience.

The base model will be packed with a 73.6 kWh battery pack. While the higher variant will feature a bigger 101 kWh battery pack.

The battery pack can live up to an 800 km range on a single charge. Moreover, a new V8 variant is said to offer a higher range of 1,200 km with a larger battery of 150 kWh. However, the new V8 variant will make its debut at a later time in 2025.

The SU in the SUV7 stands for Speed Ultra. So, it is expected to deliver high speed in comparison to other EVs. Xiaomi has claimed that the EV will generate 21,000 RPM (rotation-per-minute), which will help to achieve the best speed.

The power output of the SU7 ranges between 299hp to 374 hp as per their variant. It will deliver a torque of 635nm. The base model of the SU7 can reach 210 kmph while the higher model can have a top speed of 265kmph.

The CBT (Cell-to-body) technology of the company helps to improve the design of the car. With the CBT, the sedan has less height and more cabin space.

It offers an optional LiDAR technology for driver assistance and other autonomous features.

The four-door Xiaomi SU7 sedan has a wheelbase of 3,000 mm, a length of 4,997 mm, a width of 1963 mm, and a height of 1,455 mm.

Xiaomi has reportedly commenced the production of the SU7 at one of its facilities in the BAIC group in Beijing. It could rival the Tesla model S.
