Uttarkashi tunnel collapse: All five stranded Odia labourers rescued, hospitalized

All five Odia labourers who were stranded in Uttarkashi tunnel collapse along with 36 others were rescued this evening.

Bhubaneswar: All five Odia labourers who were stranded in Uttarkashi tunnel collapse along with 36 others were rescued this evening. The officials at the spot welcomed them all with floor garlands.

The five workers from Odisha namely Dhiren Nayak of Badakudar and Bisweswar Nayak of Jogibandh in Mayurbhanj district, Raju Nayak from Kuldiha in Balasore, Bhagwan Bhatra of Nabarangpur and Tapan Mandal of Shankarashanpur in Khurda district were trapped along with 36 labourers after the Silkyara tunnel collapsed on November 12.

Tapan Mandal was the first among the Odia workers to be rescued. He was followed by Bhagban, Biseswar, Dhiren and Raju.

Each one of them was rushed to the hospital soon after they were rescued by the rescue team. They will undergo a thorough medical examination to find out whether they have any problem.

Meanwhile, a wave of happiness swept among the family members and villagers of the rescued Odisha workers. They highly praised the handwork of the rescue team.
