Smitarani Death: BJP observes 12-hour Jajpur bandh demanding CBI probe

Jajpur: Normal life came to a standstill in Jajpur as BJP observed a 12-hour bandh demanding CBI probe into the suspicious death of Haridaspur Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) In-Charge Smitarani Biswal.

The bandh which was started by the saffron party workers at 6 am in the morning witnessed deserted streets as shopped downed their shutters and vehicle movement was intercepted by protesters.

Schools, colleges along with government offices also remained closed during the bandh observation.

BJP has claimed that the lady PEO In-Charge had been raped and then murdered by the miscreants. BJP leader and former Odisha DGP Prakash Mishra who visited Haridaspur post the incident claimed that the investigation is not moving in the right direction in the case as the accused are influencing the cops.

Notably, the victim lady PEO In-Charge had been to disburse old age pension money to the beneficiaries in Haridaspur on October 16 and visited a guest house operated by local Sarpanch Madhusmita Bhadra’s husband Rupesh Bhadra. The next morning her body was found from the room of the guest house owner.

Rupesh is currently under police custody.
