Odisha: Srimandira in Puri to reopen for visitors from February 1: Check details

Puri: The Srimandira in Puri, the famous Lord Jagannath temple in Odisha will reopen for visitors from February 1, 2022. Like earlier, the shrine will be closed for devotees on every Sunday. It was decided in the important Chhatish Nijog meeting held today in Puri. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Administrator of SJTA.

As per reports, the devotees will be allowed to the shrine adhering to all the Covid norms in the wake of the pandemic. The residents of Puri will be allowed through the western gate (Paschima Dwara) of the temple while others will be given entrance through the Eastern gate (Purba dwara).

Puri: The Chhatisa Nijog meeting in connection to the reopening of Puri Srimandir will be conducted today at 4.30 pm.

Reportedly, the meeting will be held via Google Meet under the chairmanship of Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).

The District Collector, Superintendent of Police (SP), the service representative of Puri Srimandir, and the members of the committee will be attending the virtual meeting. A link to the Google Meet will be shared with the people who will attend the meeting prior to the meeting.

The temple has remained shut from January 10 till January 31, 2022 in view of prevailing Covid situation. Puri Collector and Deputy Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Samarth Verma had informed regarding the closure of the temple as several sevayats (servitors) and staff of the temple administration tested positive for Covid-19.
