Odisha: Low pressure over Bay of Bengal likely to intensify into depression tomorrow

Forecasts suggest that the active low pressure is likely to intensify into depression over the South-Eastern Bay of Bengal tomorrow.

Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic storm is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal. A low pressure area continues to remain active over the Southern Andaman sea. Forecasts suggest that the system will continue to intensify in the coming days and will advance in the North-Western direction.

The low pressure is likely to intensify into depression over the South-Eastern Bay of Bengal tomorrow. Forecasts predict that the depression will further intensify in the next 48 hours into a cyclonic storm over the South-Western adjoining the South Eastern Bay of Bengal. The potential cyclone has been named as cyclone ‘Michaung.’

On December 1, winds are expected to blow at a speed of 60 kilometre per hour to 70 kilometre per hour. However, the accurate details about the advancement and impact of the cyclone are yet to be ascertained.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has not issued any warnings for Odisha yet. As a preventive measure, fishermen have been instructed to refrain from venturing into deep sea. Further information in this regard are awaited.
