Odisha: 1st time ever, 5 organs of brain-dead man donated

History was created in Odisha since five organs of a brain dead person was donated after for the first time.

Bhubaneswar: A brain-dead man was detected at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. After the due procedure, his organs were donated. 

History was created in Odisha since, for the first time ever five organs of a brain-dead person was donated which helped four persons get new lives.

It is worth mentioning that, two kidneys have been transplanted to two persons one at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar and another at SCB MCH Cuttack.

The recipient at the private hospital in Bhubaneswar is a 24-year-old male from Dhenkanal and the recipient at SCB MCH in Cuttack is a 51 year male from Jajpur. It is to be noted that, after the operation, both the recipients are in good condition.

On the other hand, the lungs have been transported to a private hospital in Kolkata and the liver has been transported to a private hospital in Delhi by air. They shall be transplanted to the appropriate recipients, tweeted the Health and Family Welfare Department.

The Health and Family Welfare Department has further thanked the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO), Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (ROTTO), and State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) for their supervision.

The Department has also extended their gratitude to the State Nodal Officer and SOTTO team for their proper coordination.
