Girls found hanging from tree in Odisha: Commit suicide over denial to visit Meena bazaar

Nabarangpur: Almost after a week of three girls committing suicide by hanging from a tree in Nabarangpur, police said that they hanged themselves as they were denied by their family members to visit Meena Bazaar.

The deceased were identified as Hemalata Gouda, Koushalya Majhi and Phulamati Majhi.

Reportedly, the three girls from a village under Umerkote block of Nabarangpur district, on the evening of April 9 had gone to a forest together. Their families frantically searched for them as they did not return home late on the same night.

Later the bodies were found hanging from the branch of a Kusum tree following which the post-mortem reports confirmed deaths due to strangulation.
