Balangir: A girl from Slovenia has married in Balangir district of Odisha recently. The bride was lately in Odisha along with her parents, friends and relatives for the wedding that was held completely in Odia style.
Emma from Slovenia has preferred to marry a boy from Odisha. She married in Dedhagan of Bangomunda block in Balangir district. They married in a hotel in Bhubaneswar and later went to the boy’s native village in Balangir district. The couple was given a warm reception at the village. Of course this celebration was a little bit different, because normally a bridegroom visits the bride’s place for the wedding. However, in this case there was a little twist; the girl had come all the way from Slovenia to get marry.
Son of Premalal Senapati of Dedhagan, Sourav Senapati works in a established company in Germany. He fell in love with Emma, his colleague in the same company. After continuing love relationship for three years the couple intimated about it to their parents. Fortunately, both the families gave their nod for the marriage.
Accordingly, as per Indian tradition the marriage was solemnized on April 20 in a hotel in the capital city of Odisha. And the following day the couple visited the boy’s native village where a grand feast had been arranged especially for the villagers amid presence of the newlywed couple.
In the feast Emma did not leave a chance to dance along with her hubby to the tune of Odia and Bollywood songs. Her family members also attended the celebration and they were very happy about it. Relatives of Emma from the US, Croatia and Slovenia travelled all the way from their respective countries to Odisha to attend the marriage. They were happy to have Odia delicacies. Even, if reports are to be believed, the villagers of Dedhagan, a remote pocket in Balangir district, are also much excited and happy to get a foreigner dauther-in-law.
It is to be noted that a few days back a boy from Germany had travelled Odisha’s Balasore to marry her girlfriend in presence of parents of the couple.
