A 14-year-old girl reportedly pedaled about 35 kilometres to take her injured father to hospital on a trolley rickshaw in Odisha’s Bhadrak.

Bhadrak: A 14-year-old girl reportedly pedaled about 35 kilometres to take her injured father to hospital on a trolley rickshaw in Odisha’s Bhadrak.

One Sambhunath Sethi of Nadigaan village was reportedly severely injured in a group clash in the village on October 22. His daughter Sujata Sethi paddled for 35 kms with her father on the trolly to reach Dhamnagar Community Health Centre (CHC) for medical treatment. Later, she took him to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Bhadrak town,

When asked what made her to pull the trolley rickshaw so far, Sujata said that the family did not have money to hire a vehicle to take him to the hospital, neither she could call the ‘108 Ambulance’ vehicle due to her illiteracy.

On being informed by locals, Bhadrak MLA Sanjib Kumar Mallick and former Dhamnagar MLA Rajendra Das reached the spot and discussed with the chief district medical officer (CDMO) Dr Santanu Patra in this regard and made arrangement for Sambhunath’s further treatment.
