Childhood coach appreciates Yashasvi Jaiswal for hitting double century, Says Fear has never hindered him

Arif Hussain, the childhood coach of Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has praised him after the cricketer hit double century during the third Test match against England.

Applauding for Yashasvi, Hussain said that he has always believed in the young batter’s talent from the beginning. While speaking to India Today, Arif told, “We always believed there was something special in Yashasvi.”

“We made plans and took him to Mumbai, providing transportation training, and now the results speak for themselves. He was brilliant from the start, a sparkle we witnessed, and today, the results are evident to all. I remember admitting him to my academy in 2007-8, and within a year, he secured a place in the senior team, where we provided him with every opportunity,” the coach further said.

Left-handed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal hit an unbeaten 214 in India’s 434-run win over England in the third Test. After retiring hurt on 104 due to back cramps on day three’s play, Jaiswal made 214 off 236 balls in India’s second innings total of 430/4 declared, making a double century for the second match in a row. Jaiswal, who scored 171 on debut against the West Indies in July last year, hit 14 fours and 12 sixes, and levelled with Wasim Akram for the world record for most sixes in a Test innings.

India’s historic win became possible following a phenomenal double century from Yashasvi Jaiswal coupled with fifties from Shubman Gill and Sarfaraz Khan. The trio helped India to set England a mammoth 557 runs to win the test.

In this third test, India as team and some players of the team as individual set several records. While the 434 run win over England is the biggest Test win for India by runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal created the record of most sixes in an innings.
