Watch: Orangutan grabs visitor’s leg after he crosses over the barrier at Indonesia zoo
Visitors in zoos often make the mistake of irritating the animals for their joy. Sometimes the wild creatures express their emotions by making loud noises or by hiding in their safe space. However, in some cases, as recorded in cameras earlier, the animals can be seen expressing their aggression toward humans if they come within their reach. In the light of it, a video of an orangutan locked up in a zoo in Indonesia has gone viral online. The video shows, the primate grabbing the t-shirt of a visitor.
The incident took place at Kasang Kulim Zoo and has sparked a heated debate amongst social media users about the conditions of animals at the zoo.
In the video, a man can be seen approaching an orangutan enclosure. The ape doesn’t seem to like the presence of the visitor and reaches out to grab the man’s t-shirt quite forcefully. The orangutan refuses to let go of the man while he tries a lot to release himself. Another visitor standing nearby also tries to help the man but gets no luck in the rescue mission.
The orangutan then even grabs onto the visitor’s leg and refuses to let go.

So far, the video has garnered more than 22 million views and tons of comments. The zoo even posted an explanation on its Instagram page. The caption roughly translates to, “Clarification from @ipin_chill with the kasangkulim zoo on the video that has been widely circulated on social media, it is very unfortunate what happened. We, from the kasangkulim zoo, apologize and hope this doesn’t happen again.”

Reportedly, the man allegedly crossed over the barrier, which was meant to keep the visitors away from the enclosure. He did so to take a close-up picture of the orangutan.
This is not the first time, such a thing has happened. Earlier, a zookeeper in Jamaica had his finger ripped off by a lion after he tried to evoke it by poking his hand through the bars of its cage. As a result, the lion held on to his finger and didn’t let go of it until it ripped apart from his hand. The horrifying incident was captured on a camera and the video garnered a lot of attention after being posted online.
