Woman dies in excise department custody in Malkangiri

Malkangir: A woman died under mysterious circumstances while she was under excise department custody in Mathil area of Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Priti. According to sources, the Mathil excise police have arrested Priti from running ganja (cannabis) trade near Kamalapadar under the Mathil police limits.

Following the dead, the woman’s body was sent for post-mortem. However, the cause of death is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, a special team of the Mathil police is investigating the matter as the suspicions against the officials of the excise department in the area are increasing.
