Truck falls into canal in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, 2 killed

Bangriposi: In a tragic incident, two people were killed after the truck they were in fell into a canal in Bangriposi of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district. The incident occurred on the National Highway Number 18 near Jagannath Khunta Chakk of the district.

According to sources, the goods-laden truck was en route from Baripada, when it lost control and fell into Subarnarekha Canal, which is 20-feet. After falling into the canal, due to being stuck inside the truck, the driver and the helper died on the spot.

On receiving information about the incident, police and fire service personnel reached the spot and initiated a probe into the matter. Reportedly, the personnel cut the doors and took out the dead bodies. After recovering them, the cops have sent the bodies for post-mortem.

Earlier, An accident occurred on National Highway 55 passing through Angul district in which a bike rider was killed in Angul. A motorcycle rider died in a truck collision in front of Angul High School.

In protest, people set a truck on fire. According to information, the accident took place late at night in front of Angul High School under Angul Town Police Station.

The deceased bike rider has been identified as Biswajit Nanda of Hulurisingha village was hit by a truck. He died on the spot. The deceased used to run a paan shop near Biswajit Gandhi park.

There was tension after the accident. People set the truck on fire. On receiving the news, the Angul Town police station reached and controlled the situation and informed the fire department. Two vehicles of the fire department reached and doused the fire.
