Tension erupts in Sambalpur as minor boy dies after being hit by tourist bus, Police resort to lathicharge

Tension prevailed in Sambalpur City of Odisha following the death of a minor boy after being hit by a tourist bus this evening.

Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed in Sambalpur City of Odisha following the death of a minor boy after being hit by a tourist bus near the Laxmi Talkies Chhak this evening.

According to reports, the tourist bus reportedly hit the scooty of the boy causing his death on the spot. Disan Nayak, who is a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, was on his way to buy medicine for his mother when the accident took place.

Irate over the death of the boy, the locals ransacked the tourist bus and protested the entry of the bus into the busy and populated route of the city. They also demanded the driver and bus should be produced before them.

Soon, a team of cops reached the spot and  tried to pacify the locals. However, they resorted to mild lathicharge after situation went out of control and dispersed the angry mob. Police force were deployed in different areas of he city to maintain law and order.

Police also reportedly lifted some people from the spot and took them to the police station, said sources.

Meanwhile, the body of the minor boy was sent to the Sambalpur District Headquarter Hospital for postmortem.
