Berhampur: Sheragada town in Ganjam district has been accorded the Notified Area Council (NAC) status, informed Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today.
Patnaik made the announcement of NAC status to Sheragada while addressing an official public meeting at Sheragada during his one-day visit to Ganjam district.
Patnaik’s announcement has made the people of Sheragada area happy.
Apart from making the historic announcement, the Chief Minister launched and laid foundation stone of 78 welfare projects worth over Rs 300 crore in Sheragada.
“I have been serving the State for the last 24 years because of the blessing of the public. The poor people are provided with 5 kilograms of rice free of cost under the State Food Security Scheme (SFSS). The schools and colleges are getting transformed under the 5-T initiative,” Patnaik said.
He further said that all necessary steps are being taken for the development of women and youth of the society. Even the students are provided scholarship for their higher education.
“The supports of people have made the Hinjili-Sheragada constituency as an ideal segment in the State. Besides, the block has gained a new identity as the best block of the country. Moreover, piped water has been provided to each houses in Hinjili Shergada,” the CM added.
5T Chairman V.K. Pandian who also attended the meeting, said that the government buses under the location-accessible multimodal initiative (LAccMI) scheme will start plying in Ganjam district from February 21. Not also this, the beneficiaries also get getting free treatment of some major diseases under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), women under the Mission Shakti are getting interest-free loans of up to Rs 5 lakh.
Pandian further said that the Plus Three and PG students are getting scholarship. Even an interest-free loan of up to Rs 1 lakh under the new scheme ‘SWAYAM’ is being provided to rural unemployed youth and entrepreneurs intending to expand their existing business.
