Nayagarh: Officials of Odisha Fire Service (OFS) Department conducted simultaneous inspection and checking in 30 hospitals across three districts in the state today and reviewed the fire safety arrangements.
The inspection was conducted after the Odisha Fire Service DG BK Sharma issued a directive for the same following reports of alleged violation of fire safety norms by a number of private hospitals in the districts like Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur and Dhenkanal.
Taking to his twitter handle Sharma informed on the inspection and wrote it was conducted as per Odisha Fire Prevention & Fire Safety Rules 2017 which permits sealing in case of non- compliance to fire safety.

As per report, at least 10 private hospitals and clinics were checked in Nayagarh District Headquarters where number of these was found running without proper adherence to basic fire safety norms. Fire safety equipment in several of these hospitals were found either defunct or not in a proper condition to be relied in case of any eventuality.
The raid was under way till this report was being filed.
