Odisha to get relief from scorching heat as rain likely to lash from April 7

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Odisha might get relief from the scorching heat as rain to lash the state from April 7th.

According to the weather department, light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jajpur, Nuapada & dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Furthermore, the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar predicted that rain will continue for several days. Meanwhile, yesterday (April 5), the capital city of Odisha became the ‘6th hottest place in Asia’ on April.

IMD Bhubaneswar Scientist, Umashankar Das took to his X handle and shared a list of Asia’s 10 hottest places on April 5, 2024. As per this list, Bhubaneswar became the sixth hottest place in Asia on April 5th.

It is to be noted that the capital city of Odisha recorded a maximum temperature of 43.5 degree Celsius on Friday.

As per this list, Chauk in Myanmar was the hottest place in Asia with a temperature of 45.7° C on April 5.

Due to rising heat, all the schools and Anganwadi Centres of Khordha district in Odisha will remain open till 10.30 AM from today. It was notified in an office order issued by the Collector and District Magistrate, Khordha on Friday.

As per the order, based on the Special Bulletin by the IMD, Bhubaneswar today, and in view of the heat wave situation all the Government, Private and Aided Schools up to Class 12 and all the Anganwadi Centres of Khordha District will remain open from 6.30 AM to 10.30 AM.
