Odisha: IPS officer Satyajit Mohanty retires after 38 years of public service

Senior IPS officer and chairman of the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) Satyajit Mohanty retired on Wednesday after 38 years  of public service.

Bhubaneswar: Senior IPS officer and chairman of the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) Satyajit Mohanty retired on Wednesday after 38 years  of public service.

Taking to his Twitter handle Mohanty informed about his retirement. “Today, retired from the position of Chairman, OPSC. Thus the 38 year long journey in public service, starting with ONGC and being in IRTS & IPS, comes to an end- a humbling odyssey. God has been kind & merciful,” he wrote.

Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal had appointed Satyajit Mohanty as the chairman of the OPSC on February 1, 2023.

In his 38 years of public service, Mohanty, a 1988 batch IPS officer, served in several important positions of Odisha police administration. Apart from serving as the Additional SP of Puri, he was appointed as the SP of Koraput, Rourkela, Cuttack and Balasore districts.

Mohanty also served as the commissioner of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Police Commissionerate, Director of Intelligence and DG of fire services.
