Mortal remains of Odia soldier arrives at his native village in Bargarh of Odisha

The mortal remains of Odia soldier Nilanchal Patel, who was martyred during patrolling in Manipur has reached his native village on Monday.

Bargarh: The mortal remains of Odia soldier Nilanchal Patel, who was martyred during patrolling in Manipur has reached his native village in Bargarh district on Monday.

According to reports, in Bargarh district thousands of local people paid their last respect to the martyred jawan.

It is worth mentioning that, the soldier’s last rites will be performed at Baghapali village under Bheden police limits with full state honours.

It is worth mentioning that, an Odisha soldier was martyred on August 11. Patel hailed from Baghapali village in Bheden block of the district.

He served under the Rifle regiment in Assam. He had joined the regiment in the year 2000 and was to retire from his services in 2024.

Reportedly, the Bargarh soldier was on night duty when he met with a tragic accident that led to his unfortunate demise. Patel is survived by his elderly mother, wife Rajeshwari Patel, two daughters Reena and Ranu, elder brother Nilambar Patel and sister-in-law Manjulata Patel.

The final rites of Nilanchal Patel will be performed with full state honors. His body was brought to Kolkata via a chartered plane. From there, he will be brought to his birth place in a car with all honors.

The cremation is to take place today, in his hometown.
