Eminent Bharatnatyam Guru Sri Ganesan passed away after fainting on stage in Odisha’s capital city Bhubaneswar on Friday.

Bhubaneswar: Eminent Bharatnatyam Guru Sri Ganesan passed away after fainting on stage in Odisha’s capital city Bhubaneswar on Friday.

Reportedly, a dance program was being organized at Bhanja Kala Mandap in Bhubaneswar for the last three days. Before the closing ceremony on Friday, Ganesan, who hails from Malaysia, came to the stage along with other guests to light the lamp. He suddenly collapsed on the stage after lighting the lamp.

Other guests and dancers present in the program rushed him to the hospital immediately. However, the doctors declared him brought dead.

Following the incident, the program organizer, Jagabandhu Jena said, “It was the final evening of the Jayadev Samaroha. An eminent Bharatnatyam guru from Malaysia, Sri Ganeshan came to the event. He came to the stage to light the lamp and suddenly he collapsed. Then he was immediately rushed to the hospital, but he was declared brought dead by the doctors.”

The reason for the sudden death is yet to be ascertained. However, it is suspected that the sudden demise is due to cardiac arrest, said reliable reports.
