IT Raid: Rs 11 crore cash found at SBI Titlagarh

Income Tax sleuths have unearthered Rs 11 crore cash at Titlagarh's main SBI branch linked to Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu

Titlagarh: After raiding at multiple locations for three days (still going on) in Odisha, Income Tax sleuths have unearthered Rs 11 crore cash at Titlagarh’s main SBI branch linked to Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu in Odisha.

The tax department has deployed about 50 large and small machines to count currency notes and brought in more department and bank staffers to finish the counting process.

In the 11 crore cash, there are 500, 200 and 100 notes, and the entire counting process is likely to be completed by tomorrow., informs Sambalpur SBI deputy general manager.

A 5-member I-T analysis team have reached Bolangir today from Hyderabad and have started a probe. The experts have investigated at Sudapada and Titilagarh manufacturing units. One team also visited the Bolangir SBI branch where recovered cash is being counted.

Around 19 bags have been seized from the manager house working in the Sudpada distillery unit in Bolangir district. The seized money was put in several bags and carried in a pick-up van to the SBI branch in Balangir amid tight security for counting.

Earlier, 156 bags filled with cash were seized from Sudapada distillery unit and was taken to a nearby branch of State Bank of India for counting.
