IMD issues heavy rain alert for 17 districts of Odisha

The regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain alert for 17 districts of Odisha.

Bhubaneswar: The regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain alert for 17 districts of Odisha. The regional center earlier predicted that a low pressure area is likely formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining north Odisha and West Bengal coasts tomorrow.  Due to the low pressure, the state will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in upcoming four days.

The IMD has issued yellow warning for districts including  Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, and Kandhamal. These districts are likely receive heavy rain today.

Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to lash over several parts of Odisha for the upcoming four days.

After the IMD issued the heavy to very heavy rainfall alert in Odisha, the State government has urged the people to avoid movements as far as possible. People are advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from lightning strike.

The people also have been advised to check for traffic congestion on their routes before leaving for their destinations and keep in mind the position of manholes and uncovered electric wire while walking outside.
