Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to observe the annual Bali Yatra as a State-level festival from this year.
This was informed by the state Housing and Urban Development Minister, Pratap Jena after a high-level meeting held at Loka Seva Bhawan today.
Officials said that several departments including Tourism, Culture and Urban Development will provide financial as well as other logistical support for the historic Bali Yatra which is organised on the Mahanadi river bed in Cuttack.
Sources said that the Bali Yatra will find a place in the annual calendar of State Level Festivals of the Department of Tourism which will extend an annual grant of Rs20 Lakh for this festival.
Similarly the Housing and Urban Development Department will extend another grant of Rs 50 Lakh to Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) for development of infrastructure exclusively for the fare every year.
